Progressive Clerics say that love is love

And priests can bless these unions as they please

But faithful Catholics say that natural law rules

And only man and woman can get the keys

Laity do not like it when their priests

Bless same-sex unions as God won’t approve

They say it goes against Catholic faith

And makes them feel like they have to move

Trusted theologians say to them: “You cannot bless!

Your ‘union’ is not something God has made

You cannot bless sin, you are not right

You as priests are doing something God forbade

But you claim love is love, no matter what

And every couple deserves to be happy

The priests who bless the same sex pairs

Are claiming this is kind and what is snappy

Priests say to them: “You can be blessed!

You are a part of God’s diverse creation

You are like us, you are alright

You are welcome in our celebration”

So you trads, let us all be kind and fair

And let us all respect each other’s “choices”

Let us not judge or hate or fear

But listen to each other’s hearts and voices

Let your children see the gay union be blessed

So they too can grow up for their minds to be utterly messed
