In this talk, Dr. Peter Kwasniewski will explore the nature and meaning of true obedience in the Church, especially in times of crisis and confusion. Drawing from his book *True Obedience in the Church: A Guide to Discernment in Challenging Times* he will show how obedience is not a blind submission to human authority, but a rational and virtuous response to the divine will as manifested in the sacred tradition and the magisterium of the Church.

He will also address the common objections and misunderstandings that arise from those who advocate for a false obedience that disregards the perennial teachings and practices of the Church in favor of novelty and innovation. He will demonstrate how such an attitude leads to errors and scandals that harm the faithful and the Church’s mission. He will propose a way of faithful resistance and constructive criticism that respects the legitimate authority of the Church while also upholding the rights and duties of the laity and clergy. He will conclude by offering practical advice on how to cultivate true obedience in our personal and ecclesial lives.
