Have you discovered that your grandfather or another blood relative is a Freemason? Many people today have some connection to Freemasonry. I recently found out that my great-grandfather was a 33rd degree Mason (the highest level) of the Scottish Rite. For those who reach this level, the Supreme Being of Freemasonry, the “Great Architect of the Universe,” is revealed to be Lucifer himself.  The 33rd mason is made aware that it is Lucifer himself.

Even my great-grandmother had a Masonic funeral in a Masonic temple. As you can imagine, this discovery deeply affected me.

Earlier this year, CUP members did a book study on the Liber Christo Method, where we explored the detrimental multi-generational implications of familial ties to Freemasonry. Several members of our large group discovered that their grandfathers and great-grandfathers were Masons as a result of the study. I simply prayed to Our Lady of Sorrows to help me uncover any connection in my bloodline.  Our Lady of Sorrows came to my aid and God provided an immense grace by allowing me to discover this masonic connection.

What is the Church’s Stance on Freemasonry?
Freemasonry not only opposes Mother Church, it is Satanic at its roots.  This is precisely why pope after pope have vehemently condemned freemasonry.
Pope Leo XIII, in his encyclical Humanum Genus (1884), describes Freemasonry as pursuing goals that are “at variance with reason” and as an organization that seeks to destroy the Church established by God:

“…the partisans of evil seems to be combining together, and to be struggling with united vehemence, led on or assisted by that strongly organized and widespread association called the Freemasons. No longer making any secret of their purposes, they are now boldly rising up against God Himself. They are planning the destruction of holy Church publicly and openly, and this with the set purpose of utterly despoiling the nations of Christendom, if it were possible, of the blessings obtained for us through Jesus Christ our Saviour.”

Canon 2335 of the 1917 Code of Canon Law explicitly addressed membership in Masonic organizations, stating masons are automatically excommunicated. Although the updated 1983 Code of Canon Law does not explicitly mention Freemasonry, Canon 1374 warns that a person who joins an association plotting against the Church may face punishment.

The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith reiterated this stance in a 1983 document, emphasizing that membership in Masonic associations is forbidden for Catholics, as it constitutes a grave sin and bars them from receiving Holy Communion. This reflects the Church’s view that the principles of Freemasonry are incompatible with Catholic doctrine and pose a risk to the faith of its members. Cardinal Fernandez reinforced in November 2023 that Catholics are forbidden from joining Masonic lodges.

Masonic organizations are incompatible with Catholic faith and morals. The Church views these organizations as promoting ideologies that conflict with the teachings of Christianity, particularly regarding the nature of God and the moral order.  Freemasonry promotes a naturalistic worldview that opposes supernaturalism, which is central to Christian belief. Their views are compatible with pantheism blurring the distinction between God and the universe.  It emphasizes that Freemasonry’s “unsectarian” nature is a facade that ultimately undermines orthodox Christian faith and life.
Freemasonry promotes religious indifferentism and undermines the supernatural truths of Christianity.

A long line of popes has condemned Freemasonry, starting with Pope Clement XII in 1738. This condemnation was continued by Popes Benedict XIV, Pius VII, Leo XII, Pius VIII, Gregory XVI, and repeatedly by Pius IX, each warning of the dangers and wicked snares posed by the Masons. These papal warnings were supplemented by similar condemnations from princes and heads of state in several countries, including Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Bavaria, Savoy, and parts of Italy.

Freemasonry, Spiritual Bondage and Generational Curses
In the book Liber Christo Method, Dan Schneider states:

“Many who come for help to free them from demonic oppression have freemasonry in their family line.  Freemasonry as we know is a secretive male fraternity appealing to a man’s need for fellowship and ritual.  Popular forms of Freemasonry include Scottish Rite, York Rite, Knights of Pythias, Odd Fellows, Shriners, and Blue Lodge.

In each, members progress through various degrees through rituals.  Commonplace to freemasonry are seemingly innocuous initiation rituals.  The initiation rituals of freemasonry invoke penalties for revealing its secrets with such language as ‘May my body be dissected, and my vital organs cut into pieces and thrown to the beasts of the field.’ Or, ‘May my eye be put out, my body cut in two and exposing my bowels,” or, ‘May I have my heart eaten by venomous serpents.’ ”

These are obviously the inversion of a blessing, whereby the curse works to separate the body from the soul.

As Kyle Clement (Fr. Ripperger’s main exorcist assistant) states:

“Masonic members, knowingly or unknowingly, pledge their future generations in order to gain status and power (this is consistent with Exodus 20.5 and Num 14.18).  At the 18th degree, for example, lodge members begin pledging descendants and the ritualistic practices are openly anti-God and anti-Catholic (in some rituals they are instructed to stomp upon a papal tiara as symbolic of their casting off the authority of the Roman Catholic Church).  In addition, their rituals and practices are a corruption of the Catholic liturgy and other rituals.  Between 1738 and 2004, the Catholic Church issued thirty-six documents that continue to forbid Catholics from becoming freemasons.  Therefore, membership in a masonic lodge cannot be reconciled with Catholicism and can be a common entry point for the diabolic in a family line.” – Liber Christo Guide

Father Amorth (Vatican’s chief exorcist) stated “Every form of magic is practiced with recourse to Satan.”  Blessings are of God and curses are of Satan.  Satan will always militate against the dignity of the human person, the wholeness of the human person, including that person’s psychological and physical wellness.

The Freemasonic generational curse is often triggered into a diabolical manifestation if the descendant works against the purpose of Freemasonry and seeks to obey God and the Church.  This includes returning to the Faith, one who converts to the Faith, marries into the Faith, or decides to enter the seminary or religious life.  These manifestations can include inexplicable medical conditions that only disappear once the person abandons the course which was leading them into a deeper commitment to Christ and His Holy Church.  This happens so often to seminarians that, as Kyle Clement says, there are just too many cases to ignore the pattern.

Here is a case in point, our mother at age 11 decided to convert on her own volition to Catholicism (against her grandparents and parents’ wishes).   She ardently followed the One True Faith despite the personal cost.  My mother began to have serious breathing conditions (developed asthma, COPD, emphysema, etc.).  Our entire blood line went on to suffer significantly as we continued in the Catholic faith.

Freemasonic curses follow distinct patterns:

  • Often manifesting in later generations as health problems, for example, respiration and stomach disorders
  • Sins against the sixth commandment
  • Child molestation
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Fertility issues among women
  • Dividing families
  • Early death
  • Death of children
  • Death by accident

What Must Be Done to Be Freed from the Curse?
If you are a member of a Masonic organization or are a descendant of a freemason, Fr. Ripperger and his assistant, Kyle Clement (along with Dan Schneider – author of Liber Christo Method) highly recommend the following:

  1. Pray the prayers of renunciation to break the effects of the curse (beginning on page 122 of Fr. Ripperger’s Deliverance Prayers) orclick here to download the prayers
    • Pray with a Catholic witness; it is advisable to have a priest present but it is not necessary.
    • Pray on holy ground (a Church) in front of the Tabernacle.
    • Pray 3x, each a few days to a week apart.
  2. Have Masses said for the deceased mason family member and your blood line.
  3. Go to confession to purge this blood line of masonic association.
  4. For masonic objects in your possession, they must be ‘blessed, burned and buried’ by the owner of the items. After sprinkling the objects with holy water, pray the following:

In the name of Jesus Christ and by the authority as rightful owner of this object, given to me by God the Father almighty through natural law, I ask Jesus Christ to bless this item and to decommission any evil from it.”

If the items cannot be burned (i.e., metal) they should be crushed or melted. The remnants must be buried, or the ashes cast into deep running water.
Specifics regarding who should pray the prayers (source Fr. Ripperger and Dan Schneider):

  1. The eldest living member of the blood line would pray the prayers for the blood line unless they refuse to do so or are not in a state of grace. If the eldest cannot do so or is not in a state of grace, go to the next in the blood line to pray the prayers.
  2. The efficacy of the prayers are further strengthened when a spouse attends and prays the prayers with the person afflicted by the generation curse.
